Kumulus has assisted Atlanta based MSP Agility IT to perform a lift and shift migration for multiple customers from the legacy NetApp VDMS (Virtual Desktop Managed Service) to the Kumulus ATOM Workplace on Azure.
NetApp VDS, formerly a CloudJumper product, has for years delivered reliable multi-tenancy Cloud Desktop services on Private Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Agility IT, with thousands of endpoints under management was looking for a better solution for its customers but wanted to provide continuity for its end customers.
After an extensive evaluation process evaluating options including offerings from Nerdio, Workspot, and Apporto, Agility IT decided to work with Kumulus to migrate its legacy VDMS services to Kumulus’s Managed ATM Cloud Desktop. A key reason for the selection was both the ability to choose on a per customers basis between Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and/or Windows 10/11 Multi-session (AVD) on a per deployment basis and the offer of a flexible managed or co-managed approach to service delivery.
Through its discovery process Kumulus was able to assist Agility IT to initially perform a lift and shift of the legacy Windows 2012R2 terminal and application servers from a Private Cloud infrastructure to Azure as a Proof of Concept and then based on client needs upgrade to later version of Windows Server or transition to the AVD based Windows 10 Multi-Session desktop solution.
